Zeenat Haroon Rashid Writing Competition for Pakistani Women

There is good news for the women writers of Pakistan. In the honour of Zeenat Haroon Rashid, a writing prize Zeenat Haroon Rashid Writing Prize has been introduced. The entries opened in April 2020 and the last date for submission is 30th June, 2020.

The writing will be in English. It is open exclusively for the women writers and the theme is ‘Women and Pakistan’. So, anything about women but which is linked to the society will do. The work can be in the form of an essay, an opinion, memoir or a biography. The winner would take home a cash prize of Rs 100,000. It is open to all women of Pakistani origin and above the age of 18. The word limit is 3000 words. The essay should be original, unique and should not have been published before. One submission per person is allowed. Zeenat Haroon Rashid was the daughter of Sir Abdullah Haroon and the daughter in law of┬áSir Abdur Rashid, who was the first Chief Justice of Pakistan. She was a member of the Muslim League and a founding member of the Women’s National Guard at the time of independence.
