Pakistan on Tuesday launched the coronavirus vaccine ‘PakVac’ developed in the country a week after successfully developing it with the help of China’s CanSino Bio. Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan said that the country will soon be able to start the production of the important drug.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar remarked that the launch day of the vaccine was an “important day” and termed the locally produced vaccine no less than a revolution. He made these remarks while addressing the launch ceremony of the locally produced vaccine in Islamabad
PakVac has been developed by China’s CanSino Bio. It was brought to Pakistan in a concentrated form, where it is being packaged at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad.
Dr Sultan said the mass production of the vaccine would begin locally in the next few days.
This initiative will definitely boost the efforts of the government to vaccinate the entire population as early as possible.
