Awards to the Winning Finalists

The Pakistan Cricket Team, after winning the Champions Trophy 2017, have become Richie Rich. They have been showered with cash prizes from various sources.


Being the worthy winners of the tournament, the team received greater than Rs 230 million rupees (2.2$ million) from the ICC.

Rest of the teams also received their fair share. The runners-up, India, had to be happy with half of the prize money of Pakistan i.e. more than Rs 110 million (1.1$ million). England and Bangladesh, the losing semi-finalists, earned around Rs 47 million each (0.45$ million) . The two teams which finished third in the group stages (Australia and South Africa) got about Rs 9 million (0.09 $ million). The bottom teams, Sri Lanka and New Zealand had for their share around Rs 6 million (0.06 $ million).

Prime Minister:

The Prime Minister of Pakistan announced a mighty Rs 10 million for each player.


The PCB announced a bonus of Rs 1 million each. This cash bonus will be separate from the cash that the team would be receiving as part of their contracts.

Malik Riaz:

Real Estate tycoon announced also announced a cash prize of Rs 1 million for each player as well as a 1 kanal plot in Bahria Town, Karachi for Fakhar Zaman.

Geo Khelo Pakistan:

In the 25th episode of Geo Khelo Pakistan, a game show, Sarfraz Ahmad was gifted with a BMW X1 by JS Bank and Dewan Motors as well as a 250 sq yard plot by Bahria Town.


Apart from the above-mentioned announcements, the team in future would also be earning a lot from endorsements and advertisements.

Pakistan entered the champions trophy as an 8th ranked team. They were simply not expected to win. Many players were playing the Champions Trophy for the first time. On top of that, they were thrashed by their rivals India by 124 runs in the very first match . The way they got back up from there, beat teams like South Africa, Sri Lanka and in-form England to finally beat India, in the final, by a whopping 180 runs was simply amazing. They definitely deserve these cash awards.
